Promotors

This project is being developed with a partnership of three entities of the Portuguese Scientific and Technological System, with large experience in the development of cooperation networks and management of platforms regarding transfer of knowledge. The entities are ITeCons (Institute for Research and Technological Development for the Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability), TecMinho (Association University-Company for the Development of the University of Minho) and the University of Aveiro.

ITeCons

ITeCons (Institute for Research and Technological Development for Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability) is a non-profit organisation, based in Coimbra, Portugal, dedicated to providing a dynamic knowledge interface between the scientific community and industry. It has over 50 associate members, including businesses, municipalities and other research institutions and has a strong liaison to Coimbra University.

ITeCons provides consulting services in the fields of energy efficiency, construction sciences, and environment, and supports companies in development of new materials and construction systems by helping in the conception, design, characterisation and testing stages.

In collaboration with the industry and other scientific organizations, ITeCons has been involved in the development of innovative materials and new building systems, as well as in the promotion of energy efficiency, building refurbishment, and the valorisation of waste.

ITeCons has been accredited by the Portuguese Accreditation Institute to perform over 226 different tests. It operates a certified quality management system, and is a notified body - Testing Laboratory - to perform CE marking. As a Technical Assessment Body, ITeCons is also able to support industry by issuing European Technical Assessments to allow CE marking.

TecMinho

Founded in 1990, TecMinho is a private non-profit association, having as sponsors the University of Minho and the Association of Municipalities of Vale do Ave. Its mission is to be an interface of the University of Minho, promoting its connection to society, especially in the areas of science and technology, contributing to regional development by improving the competitiveness of organisations and increase the skills of individuals. 

TecMinho's Intervention Strategy:

  • Promotion of innovation and development of new technologies / products / processes and their transfer to businesses;
  • Promotion of Continuous Training activities (including e-learning), as well as organizational development and transnational mobility of human resources;
  • Support to the creation of enterprises, with emphasis on academic spin-offs;
  • Kick-starter for projects of research / development, as well as guidance in its implementation.

University of Aveiro

Created in 1973, the University of Aveiro (UA) quickly became one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in Portugal. Now a public foundation under private law, it continues to develop and implement its mission to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education, to generate research and promote cooperation with society.

Attended by approximately 15,000 students on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the UA has achieved a significant position amongst higher education institutions in Portugal, being one of the top universities regarding the quality of its infrastructures, the strength of its research and the excellence of its staff.
